Built in 1750 by local businessman John Boydell, a leading publisher of engravings, silversmith and Mayor of London (1790). A grade two listed building, the house boasts a fine cantilever staircase built of sandstone which was designed by a Flemish architect captured during the Napoleonic war. The house remained in the Boydell family ownership until the mid 1970's until converted into one of the leading hotels in the area. The hotel has 50 bedrooms, all ensuite with bath and shower, direct dial telephones, trouser press, hairdryer, tea / coffee making facilities, remote control flat screen TV with satellite, Teletext and radio channels, safe, fridge.
